Paris 2024 Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh admitted that she did not expect to meet heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk during a reception with Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Ukraine's Independence Day. According to the native of Dnipro, it was the first time she was able to personally communicate with the boxer, who made a pleasant impression on her.
Mahuchikh said this in an interview with Sport.ua. The world record holder in the high jump added that Usyk shared his Olympic experience with her and also named the most difficult moment of the Games in Paris, which he attended as a spectator and fan.

"That's when I met Oleksandr Usyk. I didn't know that he was going to be there, because he was awarded a day earlier. And suddenly I saw him and asked to take a picture. He is a cool and sincere person, he tells everything very openly. In particular, he talked about the London Olympics. He also mentioned how difficult it was to watch Oleksandr Khyzhniak's fights because when you are an athlete, you can change something, or add something, it depends more on you. And when you are outside the ring, you are much more worried. It's just like our coaches during competitions," Mahuchikh said.
