An all-time record: the famous Ukrainian's match at Wimbledon went down in the history of world tennis

The match between Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine and Ana Bogdan of Romania in the third round of the Wimbledon 2023 British Open tennis tournament was historic. The athletes played the longest tiebreaker in the history of Grand Slam tournaments in the women's singles.

This was reported by the International Tennis Federation on its Twitter page. The decisive game of the match lasted 37 minutes and included 38 draws, which broke the record of previous competitions. The Ukrainian won the game 20:18 and for the first time in her career made it to the last 16 of the London super tournament.

In total, Tsurenko and Bogdan spent 3 hours and 40 minutes on court. During this time, the 34-year-old from Kyiv converted nine out of 18 break points and won 28 active games. The Ukrainian has seven double faults and 60 unforced errors.

After the match, the audience gave the Ukrainian tennis player a standing ovation. Lesia will compete for a ticket to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon 2023 with Jessica Pegula from the United States, who easily defeated Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6-4, 6-0. The only meeting between Tsurenko and Pegula ended in a triumph for the Ukrainian in Indian Wells.
