"Absolutely pointless": Fury's team told what they are preparing to do with the fight with Usyk

Warren speaks about Fury's fight with Usyk

Frank Warren, the promoter of Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), is working to ensure that a "very strong referee" is appointed for the fight with Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs). According to him, the teams of both boxers are interested in ensuring that the fight goes off without any refereeing errors.

Warren said this in an interview with Sky Sports. The representative of the Gypsy King, as the Manchester native is called, also called the work of Puerto Rican Luis Pabon at Usyk's fight against Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) ridiculous, when he recorded a punch below the Ukrainian's belt.

"We want all this to be done. We don't want any disagreements. We want someone who is respected by everyone and who will be very strong in the ring. The last referee was just funny. It was absolutely ridiculous. Whether there was a punch below the belt or not, he gave Usyk time, and then when Usyk wanted to fight, he said: "No, take another time out". Usyk's Achilles' heel, I've talked about it before, is body shots," Warren said.

Earlier, the head of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Mauricio Suleiman came up with the idea of approving six judges at once, not three, to score the fight between Usyk and Fury. He predicted a catastrophe in the fight if his proposal was not supported, and also announced a radical decision regarding the fight.

Before that, Tyson mentioned the war in Ukraine. In turn, Oleksandr told what he would do if the Briton refused to enter the ring on May 18.

Earlier, two moles were found in Fury's team, and it also became known that the former Russian champion would return to the ring at a boxing event in Saudi Arabia. Also, British bookmakers changed their quotes for the fight and stopped considering their compatriot a favorite.

In turn, the former world champion Carl Froch in the second middleweight division questioned the holding of the Usyk-Fury fight. It became known what advice Volodymyr Klychko gave to Oleksandr. Also, the USSR champion Yuriy Arbachakov expressed confidence that the Ukrainian would have to take risks in the fight.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk spoke about the problem with holding the fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury on May 18. The Ukrainian boxer himself named the main strength of the opponent.
