"A favorite, but..." Russian Olympic champion spoke out about Usyk vs. Dubois

Tishchenko rated the Usyk - Dubois fight

Russian 2016 Olympic champion Evgeny Tishchenko expressed confidence that unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) will face serious opposition from British challenger Daniel Dubois (19-1, 18 KOs) in his August 26 fight. The Russian boxer also noted that he will keep a close eye on the fight.

Tishchenko said it in his comments to propaganda TV channel Match TV. The winner of the "gold" of the Rio 2016 Games reminded that despite Usyk's status as the favorite of the future duel, we are talking about the super heavyweight division, in which the outcome of the fight can be decided by a single accurate blow.

"Personally, I'm interested in the Usyk-Dubois fight. Dubois is a young and kicking heavyweight. And so far, as I understand it, Usyk has no chance to make a deal for a fight with Tyson Fury. And Usyk needs to have fights, and Usik vs. Dubois is a good fight for a super heavyweight. Dubois is going to come out motivated. I will definitely watch this fight. Yes, Usyk is the favorite, but this is a super heavyweight, where surprises often happen," said Tishchenko.

If the belt defense is successful, Usyk expects to fight Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) for the world heavyweight title. Saudi Arabia was set to arrange the Usyk vs. Fury and Anthony Joshua (25-3, 22 KOs) vs. Deontay Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) fights on the same night. The media has published the boxers' fees for the big show. That said, Anthony has already confirmed his fight against Deontay.

Later, Fury unexpectedly changed the rhetoric in his remarks about Usik, wishing him good luck. And the former world champion Johnny Nelson slammed the British champion because of his fight with the Ukrainian. For his part, the legendary Hasim Rahman expressed confidence that Usyk would knock out Fury.

Promoter Frank Warren announced that Tyson will not fight Usik in Saudi Arabia this December. This decision by the Gypsy King shocked former world heavyweight champion Tony Bellew.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL, Daniel Dubois promised to "shock the world" in a fight against Oleksandr Usyk.
