Russian kayaker Svetlana Chernigovskaya has revealed the true attitude of Russian sports officials towards their athletes. The winner of the 2024 World Rowing Championships faced incredible pressure from the federation's leadership after she performed at an international tournament where she was categorically forbidden to compete.

Chernigovskaya told about this in an interview with the propaganda publication Sport-Express, whose journalist called the situation "a luteous cringe". According to the kayaker, the president of the All-Russian Canoe Sprint Federation, Yevgeny Arkhipov, accused her of supporting LGBT.

"I was telling how I love rowing, I want to go to the World Championships, how we should have love, respect for each other, that the national team should be like a family. And the president of the federation says to me, "Do you know what LGBT means?" I look at him, I say I don't know. He's like, "Well, you love rowing. You're pro-LGBT, so you're pro-LGBT." I didn't even know what that meant. And he goes on, "You're a big girl, you've got a husband. Ask him!" - Chernigovskaya stated.

It should be noted that Russian rower Zakhar Petrov was twice stripped of his gold medal at the 2024 World Rowing Championships and his appeal was rejected. This caused an incredible hysteria in the Russian Federation.
