World number one Aryna Sabalenka failed to win the Australian Open for the third time in a row. On January 25, in Melbourne, the favorite tennis player of dictator Alexander Lukashenko lost to American Madison Keys (WTA #14) - 3:6, 6:2, 5:7 - in the final in three sets.

Before the game, bookmakers did not believe in Keys, choosing the 26-year-old from Belarus instead.

This was Keys' second attempt to win a Grand Slam title - she previously lost the US Open final in 2017.

Sabalenka appeared at this year's Australian Open final with a 20-match winning streak but failed to continue the tradition.

After the final draw, the 28-year-old tennis player could not contain her emotions. She first broke her racket and then burst into tears, covering herself with a towel.

The victory at the Australian Open was 29-year-old Keys' first Grand Slam title. Madison also set an all-time record by defeating the world's first and second seeds in the semifinal and final of Grand Slam (29 years and 342 days), surpassing the previous record set by Venus Williams.

After this success, Keys climbed to seventh place in the WTA world rankings, the highest result in her career. In turn, the defeat of Sabalenka dropped her to the second position.

As reported, a similar incident with Sabalenka occurred last spring. Back then, the Minsk native was unable to cope with her emotions after a match at a tournament in Miami with Ukraine's No. 4 Anhelina Kalinina (No. 36). Aryna then took out all her anger at the defeat on the racket too, almost breaking it.
