"Without unnecessary noise and howling in the swamps". It became known what happened to Mazepa's saber, which Usyk picked up after the fight with Fury. Photo
The saber of Hetman Ivan Mazepa returned to the Chernihiv Regional Historical Museum named after V. Tarnovskyi, but it was hidden in a vault until the end of the war, journalist Anna Mamonova reports. Only the case in which Usyk kept this legendary relic remained on display.
Museum director Maksym Blakytnyi keeps it on his desk along with other war artifacts such as shell fragments and military uniforms.
Visitors are increasingly interested in where they can see Mazepa's saber. They are directed to the "Rules of War" exhibition on the second floor. Although there are copies of Mazepa's and Polubotko's belongings, they are so well made that it is difficult to distinguish them from the originals.
The stand with Cossack weapons has two copies of Mazepa's sabers. One is engraved with his name, the other with a prayer to the Virgin Mary.
Next to the sabers are copies of Mazepa's and Polubotko's documents, seals, and coats of arms. Polubotko's coat of arms even depicts a heart with arrows, which looks like children's drawings in school notebooks.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, Ukrainian WBA, WBC and WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk defended his title on December 21 at the Kingdom Arena in the Saudi capital Riyadh and after defeating Tyson Fury raised a unique artifact above his head, showing it to millions of viewers around the world.
On January 7, it became known that the saber had returned to Ukraine.
