"Why are you giving it away?" Legendary boxer criticized Lomachenko for his fight with Haney

Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) is guilty of failing to defeat American Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) on May 20. The native of Belgorod-Dnistrovsky had to win the fight in the last round rather than give it to his opponent, which affected the final result.

This opinion was expressed by former world champion in five weight categories, Roy Jones Jr. in an interview with Fight Hub TV, writes Boxing Social. At the same time, the American fan of dictator Vladimir Putin noted that Lomachenko had to take into account the fact that Haynie was the one who owned the belt.

"Everybody was so pissed off about Haney winning by decision, but in my opinion, if you're not the champion, why do you give a round? Lomachenko gave him the last round. He's not the champion, Haney is. If he had won that round, there would have been a draw. If he had a two-point advantage in that round, he would have definitely won the fight. There's nothing difficult about that. It's not rocket science. Did he push you so hard at that weigh-in that you gave him the last round? To take the belt away from the champion, you have to dominate the champion," Jones said.

Earlier, Vasyl's former opponent Teofimo Lopez (18-1, 13 KOs) ridiculed Haney for his fight against the Ukrainian. And the World Boxing Organization (WBO) stripped Lomachenko of first place in its rankings.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, the Nevada Athletic Commission fined Devin Haney $25,000 for pushing Vasyl Lomachenko.
