Former world heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev called on Russian football clubs to refuse to employ foreigners. The State Duma deputy argued that legionnaires want to receive salaries in dollars or euros, which "have a high exchange rate and are unstable," making them a laughingstock online.

"Professional clubs should not be prohibited from recruiting legionnaires... That's why they are professional clubs. But there is also the problem of the right approach to growing your players. They all want currency, and the currency today has an extremely high exchange rate and is unstable," Valuev said in a commentary to the propaganda publication Sport-Express.

Readers of the Sports.ru portal reacted harshly to the former boxer's economic "analytics". In addition, they reminded Valuev that he received fees in excess of rubles during his professional boxing matches.
