Ukrainians start with a landslide victory at EuroBasket Youth 2023

The Ukrainian U-20 men's national team won its first match at the European Basketball Championship in Division B, defeating Georgia with a score of 82:55.

Our youth team seized the lead at the start of the match and, having confidently won the first quarter, controlled the game until the end. The key factor in this match was rebounding: 26-11 in favour of the Ukrainian national team in terms of offensive rebounds.

As a result, the Ukrainian team had a 21-3 advantage in second-chance points. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the game, Pavlo Dzyuba was injured and did not return to the court.

Oleksandr Kobzysty scored 15 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out 6 assists and recorded 2 steals and 2 blocked shots (RE 19). Centre Bohdan Bryniuk had 15 points and 9 rebounds (RE 15).

The national team of Ukraine will play its second match in the tournament - against one of its direct competitors in the group round - tomorrow, 8 July, against Sweden (22:00).
