Marathon star Tetiana Hamera is outraged that the organizers of prestigious international races allow athletes from the Russian Federation, which killed her coach Ihor Osmak, to compete. The former Ukrainian record holder and Olympic participant posted a part of the protocol from the race in Switzerland, where there are Russian representatives.

Ukrainian marathon runner and coach Ihor Osmak trained famous long-distance runners in our country, and after the full-scale invasion of Russia, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to liberate the Russian-occupied lands and not to leave the war to his son. The death of his mentor at the front in June 2023 was a heavy blow to his star pupil, the winner of the Osaka marathons, Tetiana Hamera.

Today, Tetiana is very hurt by the fact that the organizers of prestigious commercial marathons, in particular in Zurich, Switzerland, invite representatives of Russia, which invaded Ukraine and killed her mentor, to compete.

"It is very painful to see how calmly the organizers of commercial marathons invite Russian and Belarusian athletes to the races, while your coach Ihor Osmak is lying in the grave because he was killed by the Russians... This world has gone crazy... Burn in hell, Russian creatures!" Gamera wrote on her Instagram.

To confirm this, Tatiana posted a scan of the Zurich marathon protocol, which includes Russian athletes. And this is at a time when the international athletics federation World athletics does not allow representatives of aggressor countries to participate in its competitions.

"What are the Russians doing at the races if they are not allowed to participate by World Athletics?" wonders the outraged Hamera.

"In life, he was very, very kind, very sensitive, fair, always ready to help. If you asked for something, he always found a way to do everything 100% to really help. He was not just a coach, but a very close person to my family. It's hard, it's a very difficult loss," the Olympic participant told us earlier.

According to Tetiana, she and her coach were planning to fulfill the Olympic standard for the 2024 Games in Paris: "And then... the war started. I went to Italy, and we trained from a distance. Although Ihor said: "Tanya, in professional sports it is very, very difficult to train at a distance." I answered that it was fine."

"From the very first days of the full-scale war, he joined the territorial defense and was already defending Kyiv and Kyiv region. Although he could have left, because he was my personal trainer, and since I was in the Ukrainian national team, he had the right to leave. But Ihor said: "How can I go? Everyone is here, I have to be here, I'm defending, I can't leave. ' He was always a patriot of his country, he always spoke Ukrainian," Hamera recalled.

And in June 2023, Ihor Osmak was killed in a village near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. He was a special forces soldier, and he was part of a brigade that stormed enemy positions.
