"They are the ones who invaded Ukraine": IOC nicely puts Lavrov in his place after whining about 'betrayal'

Lavrov responds to Bach.

The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach has categorically responded to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who accused the official of betraying the sport. The Vladimir Putin regime's henchman called the exclusion of Russian athletes from competitions politically motivated, and the IOC chief reminded him of the war in Ukraine and the shameful 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Bach himself said this in an interview with the Associated Press. According to the Montreal 76 Olympic champion, Lavrov and Russian officials are behaving aggressively, forgetting about the invasion of Ukraine and the grandiose cheating involving the use of banned substances by Russian athletes.

"The Russian government obviously ignores the fact that it forced us to act. They are the ones who invaded Ukraine and annexed territories. What is also remarkable is that this aggression comes from the same government that was behind the scandalous manipulation of the anti-doping system before, during and even after the Sochi Olympics," Bach said.

Earlier, the German sports official accused Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin of using figure skater Kamila Valiyeva for political purposes and justifying doping.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, the head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov said that many countries allegedly do not recognize the results of the 2024 Olympics because there will be practically no athletes from Russia in Paris, and became a laughingstock on the Internet.
