"There should be a disqualification": Usyk's promoter made an unexpected statement about the Joshua-Dubois fight
Ukrainian promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk harshly criticized the behavior of Anthony Joshua's team (28-4, 25 KOs) during the fight with Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs). According to the representative of Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs), the fight between the two Britons should have ended after the first round due to disqualification.
Krasiuk said this in an interview with the Pro Boxing Fans YouTube channel. He recalled that according to the rules, it is not the bell that stops the knockdown countdown, but the referee who decides whether the boxer can continue the fight, and Joshua's team simply jumped into the ring while the round was actually still going on.
"His team didn't behave properly when they jumped into the ring before the first knockdown was over. I don't know how to comment on that. Didn't they hear about the rules? The gong hasn't sounded yet. Something went wrong. This is a basic rule - the gong cannot save a boxer from a knockdown. This decision is made by the referee, who must complete the countdown. Only then is the round considered over. And no one is allowed to enter the ring before the round is over. If this happens, there should be a disqualification," said Krasiuk.
As a reminder, Dubois sensationally knocked out Joshua in the fifth round and defended the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt. Before the fight, Wembley Stadium gave Usyk a standing ovation.
The Ukrainian himself was impressed with the result of the fight between the two Britons. In London, Oleksandr also met with Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs), with whom he will have a rematch on December 21. By the way, the Gypsy King lost 150 million because of Joshua's defeat.
