The former head coach of the Dagestan kickboxing team, Akhmad Akhmedov, has been placed on the wanted list in Russia. The 48-year-old Honored Coach of the Russian Federation, who trained 16 world champions, is accused under Article 275 of the Criminal Code (state treason). The article provides for sanctions in the form of life imprisonment.

According to Russian state-controlled media, Akhmedov is suspected of participating in hostilities on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2013, Akhmedov served as the director of a children's and youth sports school in the Kizlyar district of Dagestan and also worked as the head coach of the republic's kickboxing team in the full-contact division.

After four years, he moved to Ukraine, where he headed the national kickboxing team and became the president of the K-1 professional kickboxing federation. He also served as the president of the All-Ukrainian Congress of Peoples of Dagestan while retaining his Russian citizenship.
