Tens of millions: it became known how much Usyk earned for the two fights with Joshua
The unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) earned more than 40 million euros for two fights against Anthony Joshua (26-3, 23 KOs). At the same time, thanks to his victory in the first fight, the Ukrainian boxer increased his rematch fee several times.
Such data is available from the authoritative publication talkSport. Going into the fight on September 25, 2021, Usyk knew about the distribution of fees in the ratio of 75 to 25 in favor of Joshua, who then held three championship belts. The Ukrainian's guaranteed earnings amounted to five million pounds (5.75 million euros) compared to 15 million for his opponent.
After taking the belts away from the Briton, Oleksandr agreed to equally split the sum of 65 million pounds (74.5 million euros) for a second fight with Anthony in Jeddah in August 2022. Both boxers earned 32.5 million in British currency (37.3 million euros).
Thus, two fights with Joshua brought Usyk a record 43 million euros for Ukrainian boxing. Earlier, the legendary Volodymyr Klychko earned the largest fee among our compatriots, receiving $17 million for his fight against Alexandr Povetkin in Moscow.
