The head of the UAF made a frank confession

The president of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF), Andrii Shevchenko, believes that those players who went abroad and did not return should be held individually responsible. At the same time, the UAF head agreed with the opinion that Dovbyk, Mudryk, and others can do more good outside of Ukraine, even if they formally violate the law.

"Each of us must do our best now where we can be more useful. This is the most important thing. If you are effective, if you do your job, if you are useful to the state, then you are in your place. This is how I feel about it now," Shevchenko said in an interview with tribuna.com.

It should be noted that Girona and Ukraine's national team player Artem Dovbyk and his agent Oleksii Lundovskyi have already handed over four cars to the Ukrainian defenders.

Just last week, two vehicles went to the 118th separate territorial defense brigade of Ukraine. At the end of 2023, Artem was sent a car and other equipment to the front. Before that, Dovbyk and Tsyhankov donated a car to the 95th separate air assault brigade.

According to a report on the Capology portal, Dovbyk's salary in Girona is 48 thousand euros a week, or 2.5 million euros a year. Tsyhankov receives 1.4 million euros a year.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, Ukrainian Chelsea midfielder Mykhailo Mudryk purchased a regiment of FPV drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The 23-year-old footballer posted a photo of the drones with the number 50 on his Instagram. Mudryk's salary at Chelsea is 100,000 euros per week (5.2 million euros per year).

On February 10, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine published information about athletes, coaches, and sports personnel who have overstayed their permitted periods of stay abroad. The list of so-called fugitives includes players of the Ukrainian national team: Artem Dovbyk, Anatolii Trubin, Illia Zabarnyi, and Mykhailo Mudryk.

As a reminder, martial law was introduced in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and men who are liable for military service over the age of 18 are prohibited from leaving the country.

On May 26, 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers allowed athletes and coaches to travel abroad. They can stay abroad continuously for no more than 30 days, but not less than the duration of the sporting event. The period of stay abroad may be extended if athletes participate in another event after the end of the previous one.
