Season's record: Ukrainian Bekh-Romanchuk becomes world vice-champion

Ukrainian athlete Maryna Bekh-Romanchukh has won a silver medal at the World Championships, which are currently taking place in the Hungarian capital Budapest. Our compatriot brought the country its first award at the world championships.
The 28-year-old athlete was second in the triple jump section. On her first attempt, the Ukrainian reached the mark of 15 metres and took the lead, showing her best result of the current season.
The next attempts did not allow Maryna to improve her result, but Venezuelan Juliana Rojas managed to surpass Bekh-Romanchuk by 8 centimetres in the last jump and take gold. Cuban Leianis Perez Hernandez took third place with a jump of 14 metres 96 centimetres.
Earlier, Maryna failed to qualify for the long jump at the 2023 World Cup. The Ukrainian made three substitutions and failed to make it to the final. Bekh filed a protest against the electronics, but it was rejected.
In June, the Ukrainian athlete won the triple jump at the 2023 European Games with a result of 14 metres 58 centimetres.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, in a conversation with our website, Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk spoke about donations to the Armed Forces and whether Europe is tired of the war in Ukraine.
