Russian fans were kicked out of the stands of the World Judo Championship, which is taking place these days in Doha, Qatar. The Russian spectators refused to remove their clothes with a St. George's ribbon, and the tournament organizers asked them to leave the Ali Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah arena, where the competition is taking place.

According to Inside the Games, on May 8, three people were seen in a crowd of fans with a St. George's ribbon, which Ukrainians consider a symbol of Russian aggression and which is officially banned in several European countries.

Representatives of the International Judo Federation (IJF) dealt with the situation and kicked the Russians out of the competition as soon as they were identified. The offenders are no longer allowed to attend championship bouts.

"They were spectators. And when the organizers asked them to remove their ribbons, they were unwilling to do so. So they were removed from the stands of the arena and banned from coming to the competition again," said an IJF representative.

"At these competitions we can see such "washed up" people in the stands, who have attached an element of the battle banners of the units of the Rosgvardia," the famous Ukrainian skeletonist Vladislav Geraskiewicz reacted on Twitter.

And in the comments to the athlete's post it was also reminded that the St. George ribbons are also a symbol of the Russian war criminals who brutalized Bucha.

Note that the World Judo Championship takes place in Doha from May 7 to 14, but without the participation of the Ukrainian national team. Our judokas are boycotting the competition after the International Federation admitted Russian allegedly neutral athletes to the tournament on April 29.

At the same time, of the 17 Russian judokas who were included in the Doha World Cup bid, most are under contract in the Russian Armed Forces, CSKA and Rosgvardiya.

Earlier OBOZREVATEL also reported that a Ukrainian judo and sambo champion died in a fight with the Russian occupiers.
