Russian world champion complains that Ukrainians don't even want to take pictures with him
World sambo champion Denis Kalinin complained that Ukrainian athletes ignore representatives of the aggressor country during competitions. The Russian explained this with traditional Kremlin narratives about the alleged politicization of sport.
Kalinin said this in a commentary to the propaganda news agency TASS. According to the 30-year-old Russian sambo wrestler, our compatriots not only do not greet Russian rivals with handshakes, but also avoid taking photos together during the awards ceremony, demonstrating their attitude towards the Russian terrorist state.
"There is a policy. We don't shake hands. And they don't come out for photos with us," Kalinin said, recalling his victory in the 2024 World Cup final over Ukrainian Mykhailo Svydrak.
Earlier, an associate of Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime and president of the Sambo-70 Sports and Education Center Renat Laishev called the attitude of international federations towards Russians "goat rudeness".
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Russian bronze medalist in snowboarding at Sochi 2014, Yelena Zavarzina, said that the epic with the participation of Russians at the Olympic Games in Paris was "gloomy".
