Russian MMA fighter plans to join Ukrainian army as part of US Navy SEALs
Russian heavyweight mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Alexey Kiser (14-5) has announced that he wants to join the Ukrainian military in the war against Russia. The 32-year-old native of Orenburg is currently living in the United States as a political refugee.
On February 24, 2023, he wrote an emotional post in support of our country, noting that his heart is always with Ukraine and its people. The very next day, his elderly parents, who still live in Orenburg, were searched by local law enforcement officers.
Kiser was in Indonesia at the time, but due to the pro-Russian government of that country, he was forced to flee to America, where he applied for political asylum.
"The United States is already preparing for World War III. Slogans on advertising posters contribute to this, saying, 'Join the US Army now, you will still have to learn how to fight'. It is already clear to Americans that there is no other way to deal with the current Russian regime. But again, I need to get a green card for this. I would like to defend Ukraine as an American volunteer. As part of the American Navy SEALs," Champion quoted Kiser as saying.
Alexey was going to fight for Ukraine from the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
"But on February 6, 2022, I handed over my Russian passport to the American Embassy in Indonesia. My case was considered for 10 months (!). As a result, in October 2022, I received an American visa, but I could not go anywhere for almost the entire first year of the full-scale war. And my brothers in Ukraine warned me that it was dangerous to come with a Russian passport because the reaction of Ukrainian border guards who see my Russian passport can be ambiguous," Kiser added.
