Robbery? Stats of Lomachenko vs. Haney fight are published
Ukrainian Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) threw 159 more punches than his American rival Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs) in his May 20 fight. Our compatriot, who was defeated on points, at the same time was less accurate in terms of percentage as well as the proportion of power punches.
It is proved by the statistics traditionally published at his page on the social network Twitter by the analyst company CompuBox. According to its calculations, Lomachenko landed 564 punches, while the American managed to throw 405.
The Ukrainian's 124 strikes reached the target, but that's 5% less than the accuracy of Haney's shots. Interestingly, only nine of Vasyl's punches came to the body of his opponent. The most successful for our compatriot was the 11th round, in which he simply destroyed his opponent - 20 accurate hits against two.
If you count the number of punches per round, it will come out that the boxers scored five three-minute periods, and two more ended in a draw. The Ukrainian was better in the second half of the fight, and in the championship rounds he won by accurate punches 44-19.
It should be noted that the refereeing notes that were published after the fight caused a heated debate among experts and fans. Lomachenko's team announced that it was filing a protest against the result of the fight.
As reported by OBOZREVATEL, after the defeat Vasyl Lomachenko could not contain his emotions and burst into tears while waiting for the press conference. During a flash-interview in the ring, Vasyl did not mention Ukraine, refusing to thank his homeland.
