Peskov's comment on Isinbayeva was assessed with the words "pissed on the pazriots' faces"
The head of the Kremlin's press service, Dmitry Peskov, became a laughingstock for Russian fans after his comments on the situation with the famous pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva. The 41-year-old two-time Olympic champion was seen on the Spanish island of Tenerife and later claimed that her military rank of major was "purely nominal".
"She didn't condemn anything, she didn't criticise anyone, she's fulfilling her functions. Where she lives, in the end, is absolutely irrelevant. Our national anthem was played in her honour so many times and our flag was raised that this must be remembered and cannot be forgotten," the Russian presidential spokesman said in an interview with TASS.
Russian sports fans accused Peskov of hypocrisy.
"Is it just me or did the pazriots get pissed on their faces? As Comrade Prigozhin used to say," the users mock.
Peskov was reminded of the situation with Kasparov, who also glorified Russia in sports arenas, and then spoke out against the war and immediately became an agent of the enemy.
Peskov's behaviour has been called a circus and he himself a "vile type".
It is worth noting that the team of politician Alexei Navalny published a photo of Yelena Isinbayeva in Spain against the backdrop of the Ukrainian flag and published an investigation into the Olympic champion's real estate in Europe.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, legendary CSKA Moscow and USSR national team footballer Vladimir Ponomarev called on Russians to forget about Yelena Isinbayeva, whom he called a vile traitor.
