Peskov declares Russia's greatness and becomes a laughingstock online

The head of the Kremlin's press service has received many unflattering comments from Russian fans after he spoke out on the topic of Russia's elimination from international competitions. Dmitry Peskov said that without such a large country as Russia, the Olympic movement would be impoverished.

Earlier, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) allowed Russians to compete at the 2024 Olympics in Paris in a neutral status and without national symbols.

"The Olympic movement, deprived of Russia in a number of sports, is getting poorer, losing its level," Peskov said in an interview with Sport-Express.

Sports fans from Russia ridiculed the official's pompous passage.

The Russian fans could not pass by Peskov's wife, figure skater Tatyana Navka, whose shows were regularly supported by multimillion-dollar grants from the Russian government.

Russians are reminding Peskov that reality is far from his statements.
