"People have died and are dying in Ukraine because of this". World sports legend is shocked by the NHL's pro-Russian move
The Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL) are selling a package called the Russian Heritage Ticket Offer for the NHL regular season game against Washington (December 12). The announcement on the team's official website states that those who buy such a package will be able to take a picture with their Russian player Kirill Marchenko.
Soviet-born American journalist Slava Malamud posted an announcement about the event on Twitter, asking how this was possible.
"Are you serious? Are they really that indifferent? Are they completely crazy? This is unreal. Absolutely, completely, incomprehensibly. And no one asks any questions at all?" - Malamud wrote on his social network X.
World hockey legend Dominik Hasek is shocked by what happened. The former goaltender said that the NHL is well aware that this is open support (advertising) of the Russian war and Russian crimes during the Russian war against free Ukraine.
"Because of the NHL and this match, people have died and are dying [in Ukraine], and the NHL is fully responsible for this. It's the same as if the NHL had given Russia 10 tanks and 5 modern airplanes instead of this game. Because of the NHL, people are dying and being maimed in Ukraine. The NHL should pay billions of dollars to Ukraine," the Czech wrote in X.
As OBOZ.UA reported, recently Hasek angrily spoke out against American entrepreneur Elon Musk after he ridiculed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and our entire country.
It is worth noting that the Czech ex-goalkeeper has been a vocal supporter of Ukraine. After a trip to Kyiv and Kharkiv last summer, he recorded a video message to Ukrainians, wishing them to "drive away the Russian shit." In addition, Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov threw a real tantrum over the Czech's remarks.
Earlier, Hasek said that Russians have no right to compete in international tournaments "until they leave Ukraine and put Putin on trial." He also demanded that Russia pay reparations to our country.
Prior to that, Dominik was accused of hypocrisy after taking part in the opening ceremony of an NHL game.
