Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev met with Tanzania's Sports Minister Damas Ndumbaro. The meeting discussed how Russia and Tanzania can cooperate in the sports sector.

The ideas included joint training sessions, participation of Tanzanian athletes in Russian tournaments such as the BRICS Games, and the development of ties between the sports federations of the two countries.

The African delegation included the vice president of the Tanzanian Football Federation, which seemed to add some specificity to the conversation. There was also a proposal to launch joint educational programs for sports universities.

The culmination was the invitation of Tanzanian colleagues to the Russia as a Sporting Power forum to be held in 2025. Despite official statements about "friendship of nations" and "multipolarity," this news provoked a real hysteria among Russian fans.
