"Not politicians or soldiers": Kambosos prepares for fight with Lomachenko together with Russian who supports war
Former absolute world lightweight champion George Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs) continues to prepare for his fight against Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs). At the same time, the Australian is being helped to train for the fight with the Ukrainian by Russian boxers, in particular, Artur Subkhankulov (5-0, 3 KOs).
Kambosos posted the photo on his Instagram page. Subkhankulov is a current employee of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and is also included in the list of athletes who support the war by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
Ukrainian boxing fans pointed this fact out to Kambosos. However, the Australian did not see anything strange in his actions. "Peace to everyone. We are athletes, not politicians or soldiers. God bless everyone," he wrote.
It should be noted that in March 2022, the Australian boxer supported Ukraine and Vasyl himself by refusing to fight in person after Russia's full-scale invasion. "Vasyl Lomachenko, I respect your decision, fully understand it and pray for you and your country Ukraine. Please take care of yourself," George wrote at the time.
The Kambosos-Lomachenko fight will take place on May 12 in Perth, Australia. At stake will be the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt, which the Ukrainian has never held.
