No Ukrainians or Britons in the judge board: a radical decision on the Usyk-Fury fight is made

Sulaimán speaks about the Usyk-Fury fight

The fight between Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) will be officiated by neutral referees. When appointing them, the teams of both boxers will have the right to veto the work of referees whose competence is in doubt.

This was stated by Mauricio Sulaimán, President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), in an interview with olbg.com. The official noted that judges from the UK and Ukraine will not be involved in the historic confrontation on May 18 to ensure full objectivity.

"The principle of this fight will be that each organization will appoint one judge or referee in the ring and go through a process where both camps will have a vote and veto. And then the process will be handed over to the athletic commission for a final decision. There will be no British or Ukrainian judges at the fight," Sulaimán said.

It should be noted that Viktor Fesechko has always worked on the fights between Usyk and Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs). Earlier, the head of the WBC came up with the idea of approving six judges at once, not three, to score the fight between Usyk and Fury. He predicted a disaster in the fight if his proposal was not supported.
