"Minds were clouded": Russian football player complains of fear in Poland due to "hatred of Russians"
Ilya Zhigulev, a football player from Pari Nizhny Novgorod, expressed an absurd opinion that Europeans are susceptible to anti-Russian propaganda. In addition, recalling his performances in Poland, he added that after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he was afraid to leave his apartment.
Zhigulev spoke about this in an interview with Sport24. The 28-year-old native of Czernomorske, who played 15 matches for Zagłębie Lublin in the 2021/22 season, admitted that he was shocked by the news of February 24 the year before last, after which "hatred of Russians was allegedly promoted in Poland."
"Before February 24, I was not interested in politics at all, so I was shocked by the news. Then came a feeling of fear for my wife and son. We did not leave the apartment for about two weeks. More precisely, only I went out when I had to go to training. After February 24, Russophobia began on the Internet in Poland. Hatred of Russians was openly promoted on Polish TV. Many people's minds were clouded because of this," Zhigulev said hypocritically.
Earlier, one of the captains of the Ukrainian national team, Oleksandr Zinchenko, expressed confidence that our people will have a negative attitude toward Russians for generations.
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, Ukraine's midfielder Ruslan Malynovskyi caused a fit of anger among Russian football agent Vadim Shpinev, who called our compatriot a scoundrel.
