Olympic champion Elena Isinbayeva has broken her silence for the first time since she disowned the Russian army and the news that she had fled to Spain. The former pole vaulter reacted sharply to the fact that the International Federation of Athletics (World Athletics) did not include her in the top 40 iconic athletes in history.

Isinbayeva wrote about this on her Instagram page. The holder of 28 world records, who was called "Bubka in a skirt", accused World Athletics of "hushing up history", although this is exactly what the Vladimir Putin regime, whom Elena served for many years, is doing.

"I would like to remind the re-elected President of World Athletics (Sebastian Coe - ed.) of the impact that Elena Isinbayeva has had on the development of athletics in the world over the past 20 years. The fact that the international leadership is trying so hard to hush up the history that was created long before their reign only proves the greatness, significance and immortality of my achievements," the Russian said.

Interestingly, she blocked comments on this post, to which she added a video of her winning jump at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki.

In 2017, Isinbayeva joined the Putin Team. She supported Alexander Ovechkin's initiative, just as Malkin, Bure, Fetisov, Kovalchuk, Karjakin and other sports stars had done before.

Recently, the team of politician Alexei Navalny published a photo of the former athlete in Spain against the backdrop of the Ukrainian flag and an investigation into the Olympic champion's real estate in Europe. In Russia, Isinbayeva has been subjected to a real persecution. She is being demanded to "work it out".
