"Is he a retard?" The former world champion spoke about the Russian Valuev
Former world heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev spoke epically about his former rival, and now State Duma deputy, Nikolai Valuev. The Uzbek ex-athlete recalled the story of how the Russian refused to hold a rematch at the last minute in 2009.
Chagaev spoke about this in an interview with the YouTube channel "Vladimir Yalimov's Boxing Studio". According to Ruslan, after the weigh-in on the eve of the fight, Valuev's side called off the bout, citing the opponent's tests that revealed hepatitis.
"I was preparing for a rematch with Valuev. But he got angry in a very technical way, saying that he didn't want to box because I had hepatitis B antigen in my body. To understand the whole picture, when we first met in the ring, my tests were identical, and he knew about it, and he had no problems. After the weigh-in, I went to rest. But later, my trainer told me that Valuev's side didn't want to hold the fight because I could infect them. I said: "Is he a retard? He agreed to this before," Chagaev said.
It is interesting that this soon led to the Uzbek athlete's fight against the legendary Wladimir Klitschko, whom he lost on a refusal after the ninth round.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Nikolai Valuev was notable for his selective del usions that Russians should pray to their army and nuclear weapons, while the world only dreams of destroying the aggressor country.
He also hurled insults at Ukraine and accused it of violating international rules by resisting Russian aggression.
