The previously announced match will not take place

The Iraqi Football Federation has refused to hold a friendly match with the Russian national team, Sport24 reports, citing Iraqi national team spokesman Mohammed Imad. On March 26, these teams met in St Petersburg (2-0), after which it was announced that the teams could play again in September.

"The Iraqi Football Federation considered holding a friendly match between the Iraqi and Russian national teams on FIFA Day, September 7, but everything remained at the stage of interest," the Iraqi national team said in a statement.

Instead of playing against Russia, the team decided to take part in a friendly tournament against Jordan, Qatar and Iran. The championship will take place in Jordan in early September.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the Russian Football Union (RFU) offered singer Sergey Lemokh to perform his famous hit "Everything is calm in Baghdad" before the Russia-Iraq game. The lead singer of Car-Man responded with complete ignorance.

On March 23, the Russian national football team failed to beat Iran. The friendly match in Tehran ended with a score of 1-1.

Recall that on April 19, the Russian national football team decided to decline the invitation to the Central Asian Confederation tournament - CAFA-2023.
