Koneva, who complained about the war in Ukraine, gave Sports.ru an interview. The long jumper, who won the continental and world indoor championships, noted that she was psychologically crushed and forced to switch from running to the triple jump sector.

"Sometimes I think about how things could have gone differently back then. But I was afraid. I was afraid to go against the system. I was told to sit in silence. If I confronted them, I wouldn't be able to run anymore. That's why I switched to jumping. I was a sprinter before that. I suffered psychologically. I was destroyed. I did not understand how all this could happen to me and why I had to go through such a thing if it was not my fault. They wrote a lot about me in the newspapers in Khabarovsk. It was not good," Koneva said.
