"I did not consciously use it": Russian figure skater Valieva ridiculously justified herself for doping
Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva has made a ridiculous excuse for using banned substances ahead of the 2022 Beijing Olympics. The 17-year-old athlete did not deny that doping was indeed in her body, but it allegedly happened unintentionally.
Valieva said this in an interview with the Japanese TV channel NHK, Sport24 reports. Valieva, who was only 15 years old at the time of the start of the competition in China, noted that she went to the Games expecting bright emotions, but as a result, the competition turned into a nightmare.
"For my part, I can say that I did not consciously dope. I tried my best to do everything according to... Well, we are taking courses from the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, and I tried to follow the rules as much as possible. Because I was going to the Olympics and I was setting myself up for a wonderful celebration of sport. That this is the place you've been working for so long, you've been dreaming about for so long. And you arrived, and unfortunately, you got other emotions and a different attitude," Valieva said.
As a reminder, the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) found Valieva guilty of violating anti-doping rules and disqualified her for four years. Later it became known that in court, the Russian Federation was unable to prove even the existence of Kamila's grandfather, who allegedly made her a cake containing a banned substance. As many as 60 different substances were found in the skater's blood.
