Former world light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Hvozdyk admitted that he has not been in contact with Vasyl Lomachenko for a long time. According to the 37-year-old Kharkiv resident, the boxers, who played together for the Ukrainian national team at the 2012 Olympic Games, stopped contact before the start of the full-scale war.

Hvozdyk told about this in an interview with ukrsport.pro. The Ukrainian athlete, who has been living in the United States for a long time but often visits his home country, did not condemn Lomachenko for his support of the Moscow church and his total silence on Russian aggression.

"I am in touch with Oleksandr Usyk, but I have not been in touch with Vasyl Lomachenko for two or three years. We stopped talking before the war started. His statements? I try not to think about him at all. Everyone makes their own choice and says what is convenient for them. Well, it must be convenient for him. It's not my business," Hvozdyk said.

We would like to remind you that with the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Vasyl Lomachenko joined the ranks of the territorial defense of his native Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.

On March 22, 2022, Lomachenko refused to fight George Kambosos for the title of absolute lightweight champion of the world.
