"Happy holiday to the whole Russian world!" Lomachenko's new Instagram post caused a stir in Russia
On Tuesday, December 19, former world champion in three weight categories Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) congratulated all his Instagram followers on St. Nicholas Day. It is worth noting that in Ukraine, due to the transition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to the New Julian calendar, this holiday is celebrated on December 6. In Russia, the date remains the same - December 19.
A 35-year-old native of Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky posted an image of the saint on his account, accompanied by a text in Russian: "Saint Father Nicholas! Pray to God for us! Happy holiday! Peace to all!"
Vasily's Russian followers traditionally gathered under the post, flooding their idol with enthusiastic comments.
"I hope Russians and Ukrainians will finally find peace," "Our Vasya!", "Happy holiday to the whole Russian world," "Lomachenko, you are the best, I'm looking forward to your fight in the new year," "Happy holiday, brothers and sisters," they wrote in Russia.
It is worth noting that Lomachenko recently posted a new post on Facebook and Telegram for the first time in more than two months, uploading his archived video.
Loma last posted on Instagram on October 19, reacting to the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of Bill 8371, which bans religious organizations in Ukraine with ties to Russia. On his Instagram account, the 35-year-old native of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi posted the results of the vote, writing "This world will not be the same..."
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on December 19, it became known that Lomachenko would fight 30-year-old Australian George Kambosos (21-2, 10 KOs). At stake will be the lightweight world title according to the International Boxing Federation (IBF).
