"Genocide support": sports legend lashes out at International Tennis Federation for allowing Russians
The legendary Czech hockey goalkeeper Dominik Hasek criticized international federations for allowing Russian athletes to participate in some tournaments. The Nagano 98 Olympic champion noted that this is a complete disrespect for Ukrainian athletes who are offered to compete with representatives of the aggressor country.
Hasek said this in an interview with Sport.cz. The two-time Stanley Cup winner criticized the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and admitted that he had no idea how Ukrainians could compete against Russians after Russia's full-scale invasion of our country and the many war crimes committed by the Russian army.
"It is extremely difficult for Ukrainian athletes. I can't imagine Russian bombs falling on me in Prague, my closest people or my friends' friends dying and me having to play tennis, for example. And the federation says that these people will play against you. These people will represent the genocide of your children. These are the rules set by the tennis federation. I can't imagine it at all," Hasek said.
It is worth noting that the Czech ex-goalkeeper has been a vocal supporter of Ukraine. After a trip to Kyiv and Kharkiv last summer, he recorded a video message to Ukrainians, wishing them to "drive the Russian sh*t away."
In addition, Dominik said that Russians have no right to compete in international tournaments "until they leave Ukraine and put Putin on trial." He also demanded that Russia pay reparations to our country.
