Mykhailo Mudryk may be banned from football

Mykhailo Mudryk, Ukrainian national team and Chelsea player, is suspected of using banned substances. The 23-year-old left winger faced a positive doping result after one of the matches in late October, after which he was no longer included in his club's application.

The first to report the news was ua.tribuna.com. According to the website, the banned substance was found in the "A" sample and the player has already requested the opening of the "B" sample. At the same time, it is not known what exactly was found and how it could get into his body.

According to the UA-Football, Mudryk faces a suspension of up to four years if the player's guilt is proven. Recently, the 2018 World Cup champion Paul Pogba was banned due to the same reason. The Frenchman filed a lawsuit with the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) and managed to reduce his suspension to 18 months.

The Ukrainian footballer later made an official statement. He confirmed that traces of banned substances were found in his sample. "I am working closely with my team to find out how this could have happened. I know I did nothing wrong and I hope to return to the field soon," the Ukrainian said.

The TaToTake project claims that it was meldonium, which has become very popular among Russian athletes, that was found in Mykhailo's sample.

The last time Mudryk came out on the field was for a Conference League match on November 28. He was also included in the Chelsea squad on December 1. After that, the club announced that the Ukrainian had a cold.

It should be noted that in mid-November, Mykhailo took the field for the final two matches of the Ukrainian national team in the League of Nations. In the game against Georgia, he forced the opposing defender to hit his own goal.
