In the best traditions of Kremlin propaganda, the President of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Irina Viner called sanctions against Russia positive. The member of the ruling United Russia party expressed the absurd idea that the national competitions of the aggressor country can be compared to the World Cup.

Viner, who received a five-year disqualification from the international federation, said this in an interview with the propaganda TV channel Match TV. She noted that the suspension of Russians from international tournaments allegedly contributes to the growth of athletes' skills.

"You know, it's even good that we have sanctions now. There used to be World Cups, and now it's the Fittest Cups. At the World Cups, two girls from a country could compete, but at the Strongest Cup, a lot of gymnasts compete - from regions, from clubs. The intensity of the competition was such that it can only be compared to the European or even World Championships, because all our regions brought very strong teams. Previously, there could be only two people, and many remained in the shadows. Now everyone is in the light - there are a lot of competitions and qualifiers," said Viner.

It should be noted that earlier the head of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, Viner, called Putin's gratitude the highest possible.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, rhythmic gymnast Elizaveta Polstiana, who was born in Riga and has held Russian and Latvian citizenship since 2018, complained about the difficult life in her new homeland.
