European Games 2023: where does Ukraine stand?

The III European Games took place in Krakow, Poland, on Sunday, 2 July. Athletes from 48 countries took part in the competition.

On the last day of competition, Ukraine won two medals. The gold medal was won by 30-year-old Victoria Us from Kyiv, who sensationally won the final in the canoe slalom.

Timur Brykov, who lost in the final of the kickboxing tournament, won a silver medal. In the decisive match of the 75 kg weight category, the 27-year-old from Dnipro lost to Georgian Luca Shonia.

Thus, the Ukrainian team finished third in the unofficial medal standings. In total, our athletes won 41 medals (21 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze). We were ahead of Italy (35-26-39) and Spain (21-17-19).

This was the best result in history for the Yellow and Blues. At the First European Games in Baku in 2015, Ukrainian athletes won 46 medals (8-14-24 bronze). At the 2019 European Games in Minsk in 2019, our compatriots climbed to the podium 51 times (16-17-18).
