"Don't you see?" Fetisov revealed the truth about Putin and became a laughingstock

State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov tried to justify Vladimir Putin's "excellent" hockey play in the Night Hockey League, where he is regularly the top scorer. The Night Hockey League (NHL) is an amateur tournament in Russia created in 2011 at Putin's initiative. Former professionals, officials, and businessmen participate in the league, and the matches are played in an exhibition format.

The two-time Olympic hockey champion, speaking about the matches involving the Russian dictator, enthusiastically stated that scoring goals is "being in the right place at the right time," which Putin allegedly does on a par with other hockey players of the same level.

"After the games in Sochi, I get calls from moronic Western journalists asking me: "He scored 6-7 goals again. You must be falling for it?" I answer them: "Don't you see that he is playing with us in the same five against amateurs like him," RIA Novosti quoted 66-year-old Fetisov as saying.

However, fans did not appreciate the politician's rhetoric. In the comments, the former Soviet hockey legend was accused of being a sycophant and found his statements downright ridiculous. "How ridiculous is Fetisov, a total sycophant or is he out of his mind!" wrote one user. Others noted that the legendary defender used to break through opponents' defenses, but now "breaks his spine in a bow to Putin."

However, it was not only Fetisov who raised doubts among the audience, but also Putin himself. The Russians wondered why the goaltenders and defenders seemed to lose their reactions when playing against their head of state. "We have eyes, we can see how the goalkeepers turn away from the puck and the defenders follow," one commentator said.
