Chinese super heavyweight knocked out British ex-champion everyone frightened Usyk with. Video
Chinese heavyweight Zhang Zhilei (26-1-1, 21 KOs) knocked out British Joe Joyce (15-2, 14 KOs) and retained the WBO interim title. The rematch between the boxers took place at the legendary Wembley Stadium in London.
The 40-year-old Chinese seized the initiative in the ring from the very first minutes, working as the number one calmly and without fuss. Starting from the second round, Zhilei began to pierce his opponent's defense, delivering heavy punches to the head and body of his opponent.
It was noticeable that Joyce had big problems with his defense, which seemed not to be working at all.
Zhilei managed to land a spectacular double in the third round: a left to the stomach and a right to the head.
The hook was right to the jaw, knocking the Briton out.
He tried to get up, but didn't manage to do so in time.
Commenting on his victory, Zhilei asked the audience if they wanted to see him shutting Tyson Fury up.
As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, the first fight between Zhilei and Joyce took place in April this year. The interim WBO world champion then sensationally suffered the first defeat of his career.
Zhang was then supposed to become Fury's next opponent, but the negotiations stopped when Joyce decided to exercise his right to revenge.
As a result, Fury will meet with former Absolute Fighting Championship champion Francis Ngannou on October 28 in Saudi Arabia.
Joyce in his interviews stated that he would have no problem dealing with Usyk and taking the championship belt from him.
