"Answer for yourself": Rebrov assesses Ukraine's debut and 3-3 with Germany

Ukraine's national team played a decent and high-quality football match against Germany (3:3) and could have scored more than three goals. At the same time, the match itself was an important signal of support from the allies of our country, which continues to resist Russian aggression.

This opinion was expressed at the post-match press conference by the head coach of the national team Serhiy Rebrov, for whom the game was his debut in this position. He thanked the German Football Association (DFB) for the invitation to the 1000th match in the history of the Bundestim and noted that he was pleased with the performance of his team.

"Answer the question for yourself whether it's good to play Germany 3-3. This is an unofficial game. I think we created chances and could have scored more. We had planned substitutions, but we left two substitutions for the last phase. We watched the players' condition and saw that Mykolenko's knee was bothering him. It was an important game for me and I'm glad the guys took it seriously. We played a decent game. It was an important game for Ukraine. We are very grateful to Germany for supporting our country in the war against the aggressors," said Rebrov.

It should be noted that before the game, the new coach of the Blue and Yellows excluded the leader of Dynamo Kyiv, Vitaliy Buyalsky, from the squad for the match against the Germans. The Ukrainians will play their next match away to North Macedonia on June 16 in the 2024 European Championship qualifiers.
