A former world boxing champion broke onto the pitch and "attacked" a famous footballer. Video
Former WBO lightweight boxing champion Terry Flanagan (36-2, 14 KOs) ran onto the field in the 3rd round of the APL. The Englishman has long been a fan of the "citizens". The 34-year-old Englishman, who is a longtime Manchester City fan, could not contain his emotions in the match against Sheffield United (2:1).
After City leader Ering Holand opened the game's scoring in the 63rd minute by appearing out of nowhere, Flanagan, beaming with joy, jumped on Holand's back and kissed him on the cheek.
At first, the Norwegian striker did not realize who had attacked him, but then he recognized the boxer and hugged him back. The stewards then intervened, hastily removing the offending boxer from the pitch.
Flanagan held the WBO lightweight title from 2015 to 2017, successfully defending the belt four times before moving up in weight.
The Manchester lefty won the first 33 professional fights of his career, but suffered consecutive defeats to American duo Maurice Hooker and Regis Progrese in 2018.
He fought three more fights, winning them all, and finished his career with a 36-2 record.
