"It's not always a person in handcuffs": SBU tells how Russian agents are recruited and for what purpose

Malyuk says SBU recruits enemy agents

Over the past year, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed more than 300 enemy agents, some of whom were able to be recruited. In this case, the traitors may not end up in the dock - the special service uses them in a different way to misinform the enemy and somehow influence them.

This was stated in an interview in the special project of Dmytro Komarov "Year. Behind the Scenes", the SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk said. He noted that at certain moments, the occupiers' informants are "laced up" (to watch the video, scroll to the end of the news).

"You need to understand that an enemy agent is not always a person in handcuffs in the dock," Malyuk said, stressing that if a person is recruited, the SBU usually tries to use him or her for its own purposes.

Although, as the SBU head noted, there are those who have been sentenced to 13 to 15 years in prison, according to Ukrainian law, for high treason.

Among the Russian agents detained over the past year, Malyuk named Viktor Medvedchuk, the godfather of Russian dictator Putin, and the head of a network of enemy agents nicknamed "Professor" from Odesa, whose members collected information on military and strategic facilities throughout Ukraine.

The day before, it became known that the SBU had detained a Russian informant who had been spying on the positions of the Defence Forces in the south. He was a resident of Mykolaiv. On the instructions of the occupiers, he walked around the city and the surrounding area and secretly filmed the Defence Forces.

First of all, the invaders were interested in the locations of Ukrainian troops, the number of personnel and weapons.

As reported by OBOZREVATEL:

- Malyuk said that Russia has already arrested more than 20 people accused of complicity in organising the explosion on the Crimean bridge. It was an important logistical route that needed to be cut;

- Malyuk also gave advice to residents of the temporarily occupied territories on how to avoid becoming collaborators. First of all, you need to distance yourself from the enemy as much as possible.
