Zelenskyy meets with Scholz: first details and photos
On October 11, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin (Germany). This is their fourth meeting this year.
Before the conversation, the politicians made brief statements to the media, and the German chancellor assured that he was on Ukraine's side. The video was published by the OP's YouTube channel.
"Ukraine's heroism and courage continue to inspire great respect. Our hearts are with you, your country, and your people, dear Volodymyr. And not only that: Germany is militarily the biggest supporter of Ukraine in Europe," Scholz said.
He mentioned the Russian shelling of civilian infrastructure, including energy infrastructure. That is why Germany, with the support of Belgium, Denmark, and Norway, will provide Ukraine with another military aid package worth 1.4 billion euros. It will include IRIS-T, Skynex, Gepard air defense systems, howitzers, armored vehicles, self-propelled artillery systems, combat drones, radars, and ammunition.
"We will continue our military support for Ukraine next year," the Federal Chancellor promised. The country's budget has already allocated 4 billion euros for this purpose.
Scholz emphasized that everyone wants sustainable peace. Its realization is possible only on the terms of international humanitarian law, "and this will require us to make extraordinary efforts."
