President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Chinese President Xi Jinping held telephone talks on Wednesday, April 26. During the conversation, the Chinese leader said he would send a special representative of the Chinese government for Eurasian affairs to Ukraine.

According to Zelenskyy on Twitter, the conversation was "long and meaningful". "Had a long and informative phone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping. I believe that this conversation, as well as the appointment of Ukraine's ambassador to China, will give a powerful impetus to the development of our bilateral relations," the Ukrainian president said.

The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, commented on the talks on his Telegram channel.

"An important dialogue," he wrote.

China Central Television also reported on the conversation, calling the war in Ukraine a "crisis".

"The two sides exchanged views on Sino-Ukrainian relations and the Ukrainian crisis," the report said.

And the Chinese state-run Xinhua news agency writes that Xi Jinping promised to send a special representative of the Chinese government for Eurasian affairs to Ukraine "to hold in-depth communication with all parties on the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis".
