Zelenskyy discusses with Rutte the timing of training for Ukrainian pilots on F-16

Zelenskyy discusses key needs of Ukraine with Rutte

While on an official visit to Turkey, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands. As the latter is going through a difficult time in his career, the Ukrainian leader expressed his support for him and confirmed the programme to train our pilots on F-16 fighter jets.

Zelenskyy wrote about this on his Telegram channel. The politicians also discussed defence cooperation and preparations for the Global Peace Summit, which may take place by the end of this year.

"We have fixed the timing of the start of the training mission for Ukrainian pilots on the F-16. We coordinated our positions on the eve of the NATO Summit in Vilnius," Zelenskyy said.

The President of Ukraine also thanked Rutte for yesterday's decision of the House of Representatives to recognise the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian nation by the Soviet authorities. "Amsterdam remains a loyal and reliable ally not only on the frontline and in the political sphere, but also in the historical context.

The day before, Rutte decided to resign. The ruling coalition collapsed because its members failed to agree on the country's asylum policy: it was the refugee problem that caused the national crisis in the Netherlands.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Rutte said that Ukraine should win the war with Russia. According to him, peace in Europe has never been as threatened as it is now.

It was also the Dutch prime minister who agreed with his British counterpart Sunak to work on creating an international coalition to purchase fighter jets for Ukraine. This information was later confirmed by Zelenskyy himself.
