Ukrainian and Turkish presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Recep Tayyip Erdogan held telephone talks on 7 June. The Turkish head announced the possibility of creating a special commission with the participation of representatives of Ukraine, Russia, the UN and the international community for a detailed investigation into the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant bombing.

This was reported by the press service of the Turkish presidential liaison office. It is noted that during the conversation the politicians discussed the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war, including the situation at the hydroelectric power plant in Nova Kakhovka, Kherson Region.

Turkey is ready to join the investigation as part of the commission. Erdogan also suggested using the method of negotiation in this situation, as in the grain agreement.

Erdoğan added that he would resolutely continue his efforts to bring about a just peace, because as the conflict continues, it will not be possible to prevent human casualties.

On his Telegram channel, Zelensky also announced talks with Erdogan. He said he spoke about the humanitarian and environmental consequences of the Russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant, including the risks to the Zaporizhzhia NPP, and handed over a list of urgent needs for Ukraine to eliminate the disaster.

"Turkey's voice is important when it comes to the withdrawal of occupation troops from Ukrainian territory. And also about the return of our illegally imprisoned, including Crimean Tatars, and the continuation and expansion of the grain initiative," the report said.

As OBOZREVATEL wrote:

- Russian invaders in the Kherson region do not allow people to evacuate from areas flooded as a result of the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. Residents of a number of occupied settlements had to spend the night on the roofs of their houses.

- The water rose 3.5 meters in the Korabel district of Kherson. On June 6, soldiers of the aggressor country shelled the city with artillery, preventing the evacuation of civilians from the Ostrov neighborhood.
