"This is a strategic task." Zelenskyy says Ukraine is working on agreements on joint production of air defense systems with partners

Ukraine is working to expand its partnership in the joint production of air defense systems. To ensure a reliable air shield over Ukrainian cities, the state is building special relations with the world's most powerful countries, including Germany.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his speech at the sixth German-Ukrainian Economic Forum under the slogan "Recovery, Smart Growth and Security". The Head of State urged the participants to pay attention to the defense sector in Ukraine, as increasing the production of weapons, equipment and shells is the number one priority today.

"Some German companies have already started substantive cooperation with us in this area. And we invite all others," the President said.

He also emphasized that air defense production is "a strategic task."

"I have no doubt that we are able to implement it," Zelenskyy said.

As a reminder, on October 20, the President had a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The Head of State thanked the German government for the support that Germany provides to Ukraine, in particular for the transfer of Patriot and IRIS-T systems and ammunition as part of a recent large aid package.

- Russian attacks have damaged or destroyed 37 military-industrial enterprises in Ukraine. But the state plans to restore them and actively develop them. This will make Ukraine a new center for the production of military products in Europe. UAH 55.8 billion has been allocated for this in the draft budget for 2024.

- In September, Zelenskyy said after a meeting with US President Joe Biden that Ukraine and the US had agreed to work together to produce weapons and defense systems.
