Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held talks with his Hungarian counterpart Peter Szijjarto. The main topic of the dialogue was Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine and ways to achieve a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace.

In particular, the parties discussed the Peace Formula and bilateral relations between Kyiv and Budapest. Sybiha said this at a press conference following the talks with Szijjarto.

The minister emphasized the need to develop Ukrainian-Hungarian relations on the basis of mutual respect, understanding of each other's national interests, and perception of Ukraine as a future member of the EU and NATO.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister emphasized that he had a very frank one-on-one conversation with Szijjarto, as well as meaningful consultations in an expanded format. Sybiha noted that the topic of restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as punishing Russia for the atrocities committed against Ukrainians, was raised.

The Ukrainian minister added that he had informed his Hungarian counterpart about the situation at the front and in the temporarily occupied territories. He also thanked Hungary for its support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, the adoption of 14 packages of EU sanctions against Russia, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Sybiha also noted Szijjarto's participation in the first Peace Summit and Hungary's accession to the joint communiqué.

"For Ukraine, one of the key priorities is integration into the EU. The opening of accession negotiations was an important step in this context. We look forward to Hungary's continued support on this path, both during the current EU presidency and in the future. In particular, in support of the opening of negotiating clusters in parallel," the Ukrainian Foreign Minister said.

During the talks, Sybiha and Szijjarto coordinated the next steps in the development of border infrastructure, which will facilitate the establishment of trade and economic relations between Ukraine and Hungary. According to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, the parties agreed to hold a regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission by the end of this year.

"We continue to actively work on the development of the legal framework that will help strengthen cooperation and create new opportunities for interaction in areas of common interest. I am grateful to our Hungarian partners for their mutual commitment to constructive dialogue and the development of a pragmatic and predictable neighborhood policy," Sibiga said.
